The Pistol 1: USCCA 8-hour class is our most popular offering for new shooters and is typically the best starting point. This firearm training class is geared to students who want to learn basic pistol skills, understand situational awareness and may conceal carry in the future. These Pistol 1 classes meet the prerequisite requirement for Pistol 2, Pistol 3 and Pistol 4s. This Course includes: (1) Developing a Personal & Home Protection Plan; (2) Self-Defense Firearm Basics; (3) Defensive Shooting Fundamentals; (4) The Legal Use of Force; (5) Violent Encounters and Their Aftermath; (6) Gear and Gadgets; and (7) Basic and Advanced Skills.
The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is intended for all new shooters regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation. This firearm training class includes: gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, pistol selection and storage, shooting fundamentals, pistol inspection and maintenance, marksmanship, and shooting range safety. Students will complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification.
This class progression is geared to new shooters who want to focus solely on their pistol shooting skills. These Pistol 1 classes meet the prerequisite requirement for Pistol 2, Pistol 3 and Pistol 4s. This Course includes Self-Defense Firearm Basics: Clearing Semi-Automatics and Revolvers, Additional Safety Considerations, Double Action v Single Action, Semi-Automatics and Revolvers Explained, Handgun Sizes & Weights, Pros/Cons of Handgun Options, Ammunition & Ballistic Basics; and (3) Defensive Shooting Fundamentals Explaining Proper Grip, Stance, Sight Picture, Trigger Control and Shot Delivery.
This Women's Only Course includes Self-Defense Firearm Basics: Clearing Semi-Automatics and Revolvers, Additional Safety Considerations, Double Action v Single Action, Semi-Automatics and Revolvers Explained, Handgun Sizes & Weights, Pros/Cons of Handgun Options, Ammunition & Ballistic Basics; and (3) Defensive Shooting Fundamentals Explaining Proper Grip, Stance, Sight Picture, Trigger Control and Shot Delivery.
We highly recommend Pistol 1 graduates (or equivalent experience) take Pistol 2 and Pistol 3 on the same day. This class will begin to prepare you to engage multiple threats from a static position. We encourage students to take this class once a year. This class is indoors at Roll Call. Range only.
